Poker Hand Ranks

When you are comparing poker hands, there are a few basic rules to take into account.

1. The more probable a hand is, the less powerful it is. For example, the least likely hand to be seen is the Royal Flush, and therefore it is the most powerful hand in Texas Hold'em Poker.

2. The poker hand consists of five cards. These cards can be taken from any combination of the player's two "hole cards", and the "community cards". Any cards outside this five are not considered.

3. The ranking of the cards goes from Ace (the highest) to King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2 (the lowest).

4. There is no ranking of suits in poker - all are equal.
